PRiME PI Professor Bashir M Al-Hashimi CBE FREng FIET awarded Faraday Medal

The IET has made the 97th award of the Faraday Medal to PRiME PI Professor Bashir M Al-Hashimi CBE FREng FIET, ARM Professor of Computer Engineering and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at King’s College London, for his seminal contributions to semiconductor manufacturing test of system-on-chip, pioneering a new direction in test data compression and low power methods.

As Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton, he has raised the UK’s position in engineering higher education. He shaped and directed UK engineering and technology strategy through advisory roles with the RAEng, EPSRC, IET, and the 2014/21 Research Excellence Frameworks.

In 2008 Professor Al-Hashimi established the Arm-ECS Research Centre, recognised as a UK exemplar for industry-academia collaboration.
